Graduate Research Assistantship Opportunity Graduate research assistantship is available in Prof. Dong’s group in the broad area of computational and applied mathematics. The research assistant is expected to actively participate in and contribute to current projects in the group. The research of the group focuses on the development of efficient numerical and parallel algorithms, and the application of these algorithms to explore complex fluids- and solids-related phenomena. Current research activities include development of high-order methods for elasticity and flow problems, parallel computing and grid computing, multi-scale modeling and simulations, turbulence simulation at high Reynolds numbers involving complex geometries, bio- fluids simulations, flow-structure interaction, vortex induced vibration, turbulent drag reduction and lift suppression, particles and bubbles. Capability of programming in some high-level language (C, C++, or Fortran) is essential. Current and prospective students are encouraged to contact Prof. Dong for more information if interested. Open to Math PhD students only. Department admissions deadlines apply.
