Purdue Team Places First at Math Competition

Purdue sent three teams of three students each to compete in the annual Indiana College Math Contest on April 7. The competition was held in conjunction with the meeting of the Indiana Section of the MAA at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.

Team 1 James Sherman, Mike Roberson, Mike Crogan
Team 2 Yeong-Chuan Lim, Daniel Ryan, Mei Gong
Team 3 James Lee, Thomas Horine, Keith Henderson

We are pleased to report that the team composed of Lee, Horine, and Henderson brought Purdue first place in the competition. The second place school was Wabash College, and the third place school was Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Our winning team earned book awards from the section.

In addition to the contest, Purduešs Math Club organized a student workshop on cryptology that was run by Bill Wardlaw of the U.S. Naval Academy.

We were indeed pleased with the fine representation of Purdue by our students at the meeting!
