Marian E. (Elizabeth) Young, 73, of George Davis Manor, formerly of 710 Chelsea Road, West Lafayette, died on September 22, 1999 in Home Hospital in Lafayette. Elizabeth had been a secretary in the Mathematics Department for 39 years, until her retirement in 1994.

She was born in West Lafayette and was a lifelong resident. A graduate of West Lafayette High School, Purdue University, and the University of Illinois, Elizabeth came to the Mathematics Department in 1954 and for many years was secretary to the chairman of the undergraduate majors committee. Elizabeth also prepared technical manuscripts and grant proposals for the faculty, and she provided secretarial support for the Elementary Services Committee.

Elizabeth was a member of Federated Church in West Lafayette and Daughters of the American Revolution.
