Obituary
Former mathematics professor Edward Silverman, 80, died July 21 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette. Professor Silverman was a member of the Purdue mathematics department faculty from 1958 until his retirement in 1988. Born in Minneapolis, he earned his Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of California at Berkeley. He was a member of Sons of Abraham and trained boys and girls in B'Nai Mitzvah. He was an avid squash player and walker. Surviving are two daughters, Emily Silverman of Freiburg, Germany, and Judith Silverman of Pasadena, California. A brother, Sam Silverman of Kentfield, California, also survives.

Interview with Michael Golomb
Michael Golomb was honored by the city of Berlin last August as part of a special exhibition "Persecuted and expelled Berlin mathematicians in the time of the Nazi regime." The exhibition was scheduled to coincide with the meeting of the International Congress of Mathematicians. Professor Golomb and his daughter, Debby Sedgwick, traveled to Berlin as guests of Berlin officials for the opening of the exhibition...
