Math Is Key Public Lecture Series

Lecturers in the Math is Key seriesDr. Aquino

In 2008, as part of the Centenniel Lecture Series, the Department of Mathematics, began its Math Is Key Public Lecture series.

This series invites to campus a prominent mathematical scientists to present a lecture of general interest that aims to be accessible to a wide audience of students (undergraduate and graduate) and faculty from the mathematical sciences and related disciplines. These talks highlight the beauty and use of some part of mathematics while keeping technical details to a minimum.

The first lecture was presented by Prof. Margaret H. Wright of the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (CIMS) at New York University entitled "How Hard Can It Be?" in April 2008.  This talk discussed the concept of estimating problem difficulty and its application to cryptography and computer security.

Lectures in this series occur every several years in the Spring Semester.
