Department Celebrates Outstanding Students

The Mathematics Department recognized outstanding mathematics students at its annual awards ceremony on Thursday afternoon, April 28, in the Math Library lounge.

Undergraduates received math awards and were recognized for participation in the Putnam Exam and Problem of the Week problem solving competitions. Scholarship recipients for 2011-12 were announced, and actuarial program students were recognized for outstanding achievements. Graduate award winners and fellowship and scholarship recipients for next year were announced as well. The three math advisors presented the "Advisors' Award" awards to Professors Min Chen and Johnny Brown for their involvement in the undergraduate majors program.
