Fifth symposium on Analysis and PDEs

05-18-2012

The Fifth Symposium on Analysis and PDEs will be held May 20-23 in Room 175 of the Math Sciences Building. The event will consist of two mini-courses aimed at graduate students and recent doctoral graduates in mathematics. The courses will be held in conjunction with a series of one-hour lectures on related topics, given by a wide variety of leaders in the field, as well as graduate students and post-docs. Many of the discussions will be inter-discplinary in nature.

Professors Luis Caffarelli, of the University of Texas at Austin, and Sun-Yung Alice Chang of Princeton will headline the list of speakers. Both are members of the National Academy of Sciences.

Financial support from the National Science Foundation, the Institute for Mathematics and Applications, and Purdue will help fund the participation of approximately 50 graduate students and post-docs.
