Math K-12 Outreach

High School Testing Program

As part of the Department of Mathematics efforts through Mathematics K-12 Outreach to stimulate interest in mathematics and science among students in the state of Indiana, high school and secondary school educators are encouraged to participate in the High School Testing Program.

The program consists of five mathematics exams and two physics exams that high school and secondary school teachers may administer and then return to the Department of Mathematics so that they can be scored.  These exams include Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Calculus I, Calculus II, Mechanics, and Electricity and Magnetism.

Students who attend the West Lafayette campus of Purdue University and receive passing scores on the Algebra II, Trigonometry, Calculus I, and/or Calculus II test may receive Purdue University credit.  A final decision about credit will be made by a student with his or her academic counselor at the time of registration.

To participate in the High School Testing Program, review the material below, complete and submit an order form. Order forms, study guides and information on commonly asked questions are available using the links below.

Test results are saved as pdf files (readable using Adobe Reader, which is available at no cost at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html) and emailed to each school.

Study guides for the Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Calculus I, and Calculus II exams can be found on the exams page.  These study guides are designed for enrolled undergraduates who wish to test out of the listed courses and will provide you and your students with data about the content and difficulty of college-level mathematics.
