Departmental Guidelines on +/- Final Grades

Plus or minus final course grades are now possible. The general departmental guidelines are as follows:

• For 100 and 200 level courses
  1. +/- grades are to be used
  2. A consistent strategy is to be used in multi-section courses
• For multi-section 300 level courses and above: Have a consistent policy regarding the giving or not giving of +/- final grades for that course (Instructors for the same course should meet and decide amongst themselves)
• For single-section 300 level courses and above: +/- final grades are strongly recommended.

Note that A+ and A are the same grade points (4.0 grade points) and there is no grade of F+ or F-. (see +/-Grades)
