Math453 (Abstract Algebra)

Although the official textbook is by Gallian, I'll probably just use my notes which will be available in installments here. This will contain the homework as well. The grade will be based on weekly homeworks (20%) plus two midterms (25%+25%) and a final (30%).

  2. Chapter 2 + hw 2 (due Thurs, Jan 24)[to clarify prob 3. (a) find a permutation which is not one of the eight symmetries encountered in probs 1 or 2 (b) RF is one of the eight symmetries, which one?]
  3. Chapter 3 + hw 3 [It's OK to do problems out of order, if it helps.](due Thurs, Jan 31)

  7. Chapter 6 + hw 6 (due Thurs Feb 28) I may have forgotten to include the definition of nilpotent. \(x\in \mathbb{Z}_n\) is nilpotent if \(x^N=0\) for some \(N\in\mathbb{N}\)
