Personal Background
Son of two musicians (middle child), I grew up in Key Largo, Florida (HS graduating class size: 130).
In 2005 I graduated from University of Florida with a B.S. in Mathematics.
As a graduate student at The University of South Florida I worked under the inimitable Dmitry Khavinson.
I married my undergrad sweetheart, Melissa Lehman, in 2009.
We each earned our Ph.D.s (hers in Cognitive Psychology, mine in Mathematics) in 2011, and came to Purdue for postdoctoral positions.
My religious views are influenced by the writings of Unamuno. and rather aptly summarized in
his essay "My religion".
Interests outside of Mathematics and favorite pastimes:
Skiing!
Playing music (bluegrass, accoustic renditions of Beatles or classic rock, and the occasional introverted day spent playing alone on the piano)
Playing soccer
Sitting around a fire
Intellectual and pointless conversations (philosophies and pet theories), especially with people that can make me laugh
Reading poetry from the era of Brittish romanticism and essays by prominent figures in the history of science
Getting my hands dirty (e.g. gardening, working on my car)
Outdoor activities (hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, etc.)
Learning something new
Trying something new
Looking for adventure
Here are some pictures.
You can listen to a song I composed on the piano.
Or, me playing "Little Martha" by the Allman brothers on the guitar.
