Advertisement for doing research in mathematics:
I include this map as an advertisement of sorts for students who may be interested in doing research in mathematics.
One perk of doing research is the travel one does to present your work.
Even in the early stages of my career, I have been able to travel to conferences in some very interesting locations.
Clearly, by now my motivation for going to conferences is purely to present research and hear about the work of others.
However, this was not always the case.
The biggest motivation for me to do my first project as an
undergraduate math major at Youngstown State was the promise of a free trip to Los Angeles to give a talk at MathFest at UCLA.
While less than ideal, I don't feel that this is the worst thing in the world.
Where math can take you... literally.
