YOU ARE INVITED!!

2nd Annual Midwest Actuarial Student Conference

on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

9 am – 4 pm, Saturday, October 18, 2014

We cordially invite Purdue actuarial students to attend the 2nd annual Midwest Actuarial Student Conference, a one-day Conference for college students who are studying or interested in Actuarial Science.

The Conference will include six presentations of interest to actuarial science students, as well as opportunities to network with your peers.  The agenda, including session topics and speakers, can be accessed online here

Costs/Meals

There is no cost to attend the conference. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshment breaks will be included.

Events/Housing

The Conference has been set up to permit many attendees to arrive in the morning and leave in the late afternoon.

However, if you arrive the night before, the Illinois Actuarial Science Club will host a Casino Night on Friday, October 17 at 9:00 pm.  More information on this event will be forthcoming in a later email.

If you are arriving on Friday night, we have reserved a block of hotel rooms for that night at a discounted rate at the local La Quinta Inn.  (You are responsible for the cost of the hotel room.)  You may contact them directly to reserve hotel rooms.  You can register by giving them the code "MASC."  Click here for additional information.

Registration

In order to attend, you must be registered by October 3, 2014.  Each person planning to attend must register individually.

This year, one of our sessions will be split into three concurrent sessions, allowing students to choose to attend the one most applicable to them.  Thus, we ask that, when you register, please identify which of the three concurrent sessions you would like to attend.  This will allow us to plan our room usage appropriately.

Note: Registration will be limited to the first 400 students, so register early.  After 400 students, a waiting list will be created.  Please do not register unless you are attending.

If you register and then are not able to attend, please contact Prof. Gorvett via e-mail.

After registration, participants will receive an email in early October with additional logistical information such as a map of the venue and parking.

We hope to see many of you in October!
