Final Exam

• Location: Loeb Playhouse (in Stewart Center).
• Date and Time: Monday, December 14, 2009, 3:20PM to 5:20PM.
• There is a practice final exam.

Quizes

Quizes are roughly a half hour in length, will take place every second Friday, beginning August 28.

• (August 28) Integration by parts and factoring polynomials; solutions.
• (September 11) Material from the assignment due September 2; solutions.
• (September 25) Material from the assignments due September 11 and September 16; solutions.
• (October 2) Special 10-minute quiz: Characterize first order ODEs as linear, separable, homogeneous, or exact (or combinations of these); solutions.
• (October 9) Quiz moved to October 16. Material from the assignments due September 23 and September 30; solutions.
• (October 23) Material from the assignment due October 7; solutions.
• (November 6) Material from the assignments due October 21 and 28; solutions.
• (November 20) Material From assignments due November 4 and 11; solutions.
• (December 4) Cancelled. One question on Lesson 28, one on Lesson 29, and one on the rest of the Laplace transform chapter.

Homework

Homework will be assigned one week (MWF), and will be due the following Wednesday. I do not accept late homework.

• Due September 2: Lessons 1 and 2, and page 39, #1, 3, and 13.
• Due September 11: Page 39, #16, 21, and 24; and Lessons 4, 5, and 6.
• Due September 16: Lesson 7.
• Due September 23: Lessons 8, 9, and 10.
• Due September 30: Lessons 11 and 12.
• Due October 7: Lessons 13, 14, and 15.
• Due October 16: Lessons 16, 17, and 18. Delayed.
• Due October 21: Lessons 16, 17, 18, and 19.
• Due October 28: Lessons 20, 21, and 22.
• Due November 4: Lessons 23, 24, and 25. Not Project 2.
• Due November 11: Lessons 26 and 27.
• Due November 18: Lessons 28 and 29.
• Due December 2: Lessons 30 and 31.

Revised assignment sheet (2009/09/25)

The assignment sheet I handed out the first day of class was incorrect; a revised assignment sheet is now available.

Matlab program dfield7 now installed on ITaP's computer systems

Matlab is installed on all ITaP lab machines, on both Windows (under "All Programs") and Mac OS X (under "Applications"). All the Matlab programs required by the course have now been installed on ITaP's lab machines (on Windows and on Mac OS X).

The programs dfield and pplane, needed for some of the homework problems, have been implemented as Java browser applets at this web page. They can be run without Matlab; you must have Java enabled in your browser preferences.
