The first mid-term exam will cover Chapter 5, Sections 5.1 to 5.4, and Chapter 7, Sections 7.3 and 7.5 to 7.8 (not 7.9).
The second mid-term exam will cover Chapter 7, Section 7.9, and Chapter 10, Sections 10.1 to 10.6 (not 10.7 or 10.8).
The final exam will be comprehensive, but with an emphasis on material not covered on the first two tests (Sections 10.7 and 10.8, Chapters 9 and 8).

The programs dfield and pplane, needed for some of the homework problems, have been implemented as Java browser applets at this web page. They can be run without Matlab; you must have Java enabled in your browser preferences.
