Math301 - An Introduction To Proof Through Real Analysis

Professor: Liz Vivas

Office: Math 446

Lessons:
TTh 03:00pm - 04:15pm

Room: UNIV 119

Office Hours: Tuesday 10:30-12:30pm and Wednesday 11:30am-12:30pm at Math 446

Textbook:
Professor Penney's notes: http://www.math.purdue.edu/~rcp/MA301.html

Outline:
The aim of the course is to make the student familiar with the methods and rigor of mathematical proofs. We will use the basics of Real Analysis as a background where we will exercise abstract reasoning to construct proofs. The clear communication of such proofs is also important. Therefore not only the correctness of reasoning will be evaluated but also the clarity of the exposition. You are encourage to discuss problems with others.

Grading policy:
There will be two midterm exams and one final. Each midterm will be worth 20%, the final will be 30%, and the homework grade will be 30% of your total grade.
