First of all, try to consider air service. Two major airlines serve the Purdue University Airport, United Airlines from Chicago and Northwest Airlines from Detroit.
There is also city train service from the Chicago airport (O'Hare, ORD) to the Greyhound bus station downtown Chicago every 30 minutes. The Greyhound bus leaves Downtown Chicago for Lafayette at 7:30 AM, 10:30 AM, and 4:15 PM every day. The round trip fare for the Greyhound service is about $43 weekdays and $46 weekends (Fri-Sun). For the return, it leaves Lafayette at 9:05 AM, 1:00 PM, and 6:25 PM, arriving respectively at 12:05 PM, 3:30 PM, and 9:00 PM.

TRANSPORTATION FROM INDIANAPOLIS TO WEST LAFAYETTE

There is a minibus service by Lafayette Limo running every two hours from the Indianapolis airport (IND) to the Purdue Memorial Union. The one-way fare is $20.00 and the round-trip fare $35.00. The buses from the airport leave from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM every two hours. The buses from the Memorial Union to the airport leave from 4:55 AM to 8:55 PM every two hours. The trip (either way) is about one hour and a half.
