I am Lichen Ni, a 6th-year PhD student at Purdue math department, expected to graduate this year (2013). I have been a PhD student here since August 2007.
Someone calls me this in Chinese : )
My research projects, supported by ONR and NSF, consist of two parts:
Part 1: Design absolutely C1 spectral parallelogram elements in computational fluid dynamics, effective for solving high-order PDEs directly, like Cahn-Hilliard Equation.
Part 2: Design robust temporal finite difference methods in structural engineering simulations, which exhibit a notable advantage in terms of stability and dissipativity.
My advisor is Professor Steven Dong.
My current office is MATH 437.
