Text Book

W.E. Boyce & R.C. DiPrima, "Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems", 10th Edition, Wiley.

Sections to be covered:

Most of chapters 5, 6, 7 and 10, and part of chapter 8.  

 

Grading

2 Midterm exams (in-class, multiple-choice): 20% each
Final exam (multiple-choice): 35%
Homework: 25% (including pop quizzes ~ 3%)

Books, notes, and calculators are prohibited during exams.

Homework Assignments

Homework problems will be assigned and submitted through WebAssign. Any student who has registered through Purdue Banner will automatically appear in the WebAssign roster BUT he/she needs to log in first. Each student will have a trial period to use the WebAssign for free before it is required to enter the purchased WebAssign registration code.
 
The students have the following options of purchasing textbook and WebAssign access code:
(i) purchase book-and-access code from Purdue bookstores;
(ii) purchase access code from WebAssign (with or without eBook); The students can purchase the textbook from any other vendors.
 
Homework problems are usually due in the following week after they are assigned. No late submission or extension will be accepted.
 
Homework is to be completed independently unless otherwise instructed. Cheating will result in zero grade.
