Title: Quantized vortices in superfluids Speaker: Professor Qiang Du, Penn State University Abstract: Quantized vortex, a signature of superfluidity, has been studied for more than fifty years in the context of superconductivity and in recent years, it has attracted much attention in the study of the Bose-Einstein condensates. In this talk, we will discuss some questions related to quantized vortices based on the Ginzburg-Landau models for superconductivity and the Gross-Pitaevskii equations for the Bose-Einstein condensation. We will also present numerical algorithms for solving these equations.
