Homework and grading policies

Altogether the course has a basis of 500 points:

We take homework seriously. The homework will be given with a due date. Late homework is discouraged. To assist in homework being done by due date, we will put aside the first 10 or 15 minutes of each period for student questions about difficulties in the homework.

I feel that it is better for students to stay current in homework, rather than to 'catch up' from time to time, because the material we will be covering in class will become more and more complicated. Homework is part of the learning process. If a student falls behind, the daily class material will become less and less understandable, because it builds on the abilities one is supposed to have developed doing homework.

Details about when Homework will be collected and about quizzes will be given in class and on this web-site.
