Exams Schedule

Midterm I: Tuesday 10/02, 2018; 6:30-7:30pm, LILY 1105 ,

Midterm II: Tuesday, 11/06,2018; 6L30-7:30 pm, FRNY G140 ,

Final Exam (common): The week December 10-15, Date/time/location (TBA)

The first two midterm exams will be free open response type problems, and the final exam will be multiply choice problems.

Homework

The homework of the course consists of the following two types:

  • Online homework problems.

    We use the WebAssign online homework system.

  • Hand-written and graded Homework

    These problems will be turned in and graded by a grader. A list of hand-graded homework set for MA 266 (as well a list of online homework problems) can be found at assignment sheet .The hand-graded homework contains three parts:

  • The textbook problems.
  • Supplemental problems.
  • Three Matlab projects:Project1; Project 2; Project 3.
  • (Note: in the assignment sheet, "1" refers to Problem 1 in the text book; "A" refers to Problem A in the supplemental problems; and "Project 1" refers to Matlab project 1.) No late homwork will be accepted.
  • Actively participating in class and working on extra credit problems will help improve your grade.

    Quizzes

    There will be six quizzes during the semester, each of which contains one or two problems and is given once two weeks at the last 15 minutes during Thursday class. The quiz problem usually comes from the previous homework problems or their variations.

    Grade Policy:

    There will be totally 600 points, which is distributed as follows:

    Each of the two midterm exams is worth 100 points.

    The common final exam is worth 200 points.

    The homework and projects are worth 150 points

    Quizzes are worth 50 points

    (NOTE : Each two worst homework scores from hand-graded and one online ones will be dropped, and one worst quiz score will be dropped).
