Description:

Discuss techniques and tools in commutative algebra as well as unfamiliar aspects of the subject via a series of talks regarding current research, interesting results, and applications. Open to all mathematics graduate students interested in commutative algebra.

This semester we will be covering selected chapters of the book Integral Closure of Ideals, Rings, and Modules by Irena Swanson and Craig Huneke. Most of the preliminary knowledge will be assumed, but the material is accessible to any student having taken or currently enrolled in MA 557.
