Superconductivity Workshop Held at Purdue

An interdisciplinary conference on the mathematical modeling, computation, and analysis of superconducting materials was held at Purdue May 18-20, 1998. The conference was organized by P. Bauman and D. Phillips of the Purdue Mathematics Department and M. Gunzburger from Iowa State University. Conference participants included physicists, materials scientists, and all flavors of mathematicians coming from Europe, Israel, Japan and the U.S.

The conference offered a unique opportunity for researchers and students to see the direction of recent mathematical investigations for superconductivity, as well as hear about the current theoretical and experimental developments coming from the physics and materials science communities.

The workshop was sponsored by The Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA), the Purdue Mathematics Department, and the Midwest Superconductivity Consortium (MISCON) .
