Jeff Beckley, FSA, is the Director of the Actuarial Science Program. He has been involved with the Actuarial Science Program for 14 years. Prior to joining Purdue, Jeff worked as a consulting actuary for his own firm as well as Deloitte. Jeff has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Society of Actuaries and is very active on the Society’s examination, curriculum, and research committees. Jeff has been named the Outstanding Teacher in the College of Science three times.

Mark Daniel Ward, Ph.D., is a Professor of Statistics and is also Associate Director of Actuarial Science. He joined the faculty at Purdue in 2007. Mark has held visiting positions at the University of Maryland and The George Washington University, as well as École Polytechnique and Université de Paris. He served as Undergraduate Chair in Statistics for 10 years. In 2016, Mark received the national Mu Sigma Rho William D. Warde Statistics Education Award and he was also voted as the Most Outstanding Faculty in Purdue's Favorite Faculty program. Mark is currently serving as Associate Director of Purdue's Integrative Data Science Initiative, and he is organizing the new student program called The Data Mine.

Su, Jianxi

Dr. Su is an assistant professor at the Department of Statistics at Purdue University. He is also one of the Associate Directors of the Actuarial Science Program at Purdue. Prior to joining Purdue in 2016, Dr. Su completed his PhD at York University (2012-2015). Upon graduation, he held a Post-doctoral position at the Schulich School of Business for six months in 2016. Dr. Su obtained the Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (ACIA) in 2015 and the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) in 2017. His research expertise are in dependence modelling, risk management, and pricing. During his PhD candidature, Dr. Su worked as a research associate at the Model Validation and ORSA Implementation team of Sun Life Financial (Toronto office).
Xu, Mengyi

Dr. Xu is an assistant professor in the Departments of Statistics and Mathematics. She has a PhD degree in actuarial science and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA). Before joining Purdue, she worked as a Senior Research Associate at the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research (CEPAR). Her research interests are in mortality and disability modeling, pension fund management and retirement financial product innovations.

Haibo Liu earned his B.Sc. degree in 2013 and M.Phil degree in 2015, both from the University of Hong Kong, and earned his Ph.D. degree in 2019 from University of Iowa under the supervision of Qihe Tang and Ambrose Lo. He has been a Senior Research Associate in the School of Risk and Actuarial Studies at UNSW Sydney since 2019. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
Haibo Liu’s current research interests include pricing in incomplete markets, insurance-linked securities, and insolvency risk. He is keen to build up collaboration with new colleagues and see new students at Purdue.

Dan Rubin, FSA, is a continuing lecturer in Actuarial Science. Dan has been with the Actuarial Science Program for 4 years. Dan brings a broad range of experiences in actuarial practice to Purdue following his 30 years of Annuity reserving, pricing, and risk management while working for Nationwide Insurance in Columbus, OH.

Sally Ray has been involved with the Actuarial Science Program since Fall 2020. Prior to joining Purdue, Sally worked 7 years as a consulting pension actuary for Nyhart. She earned her Enrolled Actuary (EA) designation in 2018 from the Joint Board and became a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) in 2018.
