Algebraic Geometry II
Credit Hours: 3.00. This is the second course in a two-semester introductory sequence in algebraic geometry. This second course focuses on sheaves, schemes, and sheaf cohomology. Topics include sheaves of Abelian groups, schemes and properties and morphisms of schemes, (quasi-)coherent sheaves of modules, divisors, differentials, sheaf cohomology, the cohomology of affine schemes and projective spaces, and major theorems such as Serre duality and Riemann-Roch for curves. Additional topics may vary by semester and may include formal schemes, applications to curves, and applications to surfaces. Pre-Requisites: MA 55300 and MA 55400 and MA 57100 and MA 55700 and MA 56500. MA 56200 and MA 57200 are helpful but not required.
