Math Department grades policy

Students who get at least 97% of the total
points in this course are guaranteed an A+,

For each of these grades, it's possible that
at the end of the semester a somewhat lower
percentage will be enough to get that grade.
In fact, in a course like MA 428 for senior
math majors and advanced engineering and
science students, it is quite likely.

Homework will be collected roughly once a week
in Gradescope. Late homework without prior
permission will not be allowed. Only 4 problems
will be graded by the grader per week. Each
problem will be worth five points and so each
homework assignment will be graded on a scale
of 0 to 20.

There will be one in-class midterm exam and a
two hour final exam.

No notes, books, or calculators will be allowed
during exams. The midterm exam will be worth
100 points, the homework grade will be scaled to
100 points, and the final will be worth 200
points, making a total of 400 points for the
whole course.

To summarize, total points are

200 Final exam
