The Authors

Carl Cowen received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1976 and has been at Purdue University since 1978.
Besides composition operators, he is interested in Toeplitz operators and linear algebra.

Barbara MacCluer received her PhD from Michigan State University in 1983 and was at the University of Richmond 1987 to 1994. She visited Purdue University for the academic year 1994-95 and moved to the University of Virginia in summer 1995. Besides composition operators, she is interested in differential equations.
