Is there any easy to use software at any lab open to >math classes which emulates a graphing calculator. The recommended choice for a graphing calculator is Kaliedograph (sp?) This fall, students and faculty using PUCC's Labs (including the Math Open Hours Lab) will need to login with a password. If you are going to send students from your course to PUCC labs on a regular basis or even occasionally, an easy way for you to handle this is to request a course account from PUCC by sending email to ma-mgr@cc.purdue.edu and requesting that a course account be set up for your course. Use the complete descriptor as in "MA 265-2-1" (the division and section number are necessary even if there is the only one section). A packet will arrive in your mailbox with handouts for your students containing their passwords, password for your instructor account, and information about how to use the electronic handout/collection capabilities of course accounts. If you do not want to get a course account, until September your students can use their six digit birthdate + PU as a password until they change it with SSINFO (if their birthdate was April 6, 1978, they would use 040678PU ). Faculty can get their passwords mailed to them via campus mail by sending email to mailhub-password@purdue.edu containing only the lines qn=veronica.a.smyth.1 id=123-45-6789 where you can get your "qn" (qualified name) by using "ph" from a unix machine: ph veronica smyth return qualified_name and "id" is your Purdue ID. Subject: Math Open Hours As you probably know, Math Open Hours are Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed, Thur 7-10pm in LAEB B275, a Macintosh Lab, and there are student assistants there to help your students with the math software we use: Maple, Matlab, Geometer's Sketchpad, ISETL, and EXCEL. HOWEVER, this Thursday, September 18, the lab will not have any assistants present because they each have evening exams. Please announce this to the appropriate classes. Carl
