Rachael Kenney

Welcome!

I am an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education at Purdue University, where I have the unusual—and rewarding—opportunity to call two colleges home. I hold a joint appointment in the Department of Mathematics in the College of Science and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education. Working across these two departments keeps me closely connected to our secondary mathematics education majors, who earn their mathematics degrees in the College of Science while preparing for teaching licensure through the College of Education.

My work centers on mathematics teaching and learning and the people who make mathematics classrooms what they are. I work with undergraduate and graduate students, teachers, and colleagues on questions about how students learn mathematics, how teachers support that learning, and how we can create mathematics learning experiences that invite more students to see themselves as capable mathematical thinkers.

I also advise doctoral students pursuing research in mathematics education.
