Application for Financial Support (Closed as of February 10, 2017)

Thanks to a grant of the National Science Foundation (DMS-1700269) we invite applications of graduate students and post-docs (with fewer than five years since their Ph.D) from U.S. institutions for funding to defray the costs of attending the two weeks of the symposium (local expenses, visa fees and airline tickets*). Interested applicants should provide the following

  • An up-to-date CV
  • A short description of their mathematical interests and the reasons why the participation in the symposium will benefit them
  • A letter of recommendation from a senior mathematician

    All documents, inlcuding the letter of recommendation, should be sent to Antônio Sá Barreto (sabarre at purdue dot edu) by February 1st, 2017. Late or incomplete applications may not be fully considered.

    Students and post-docs who receive funding will have to attend the mini-courses during the first week and the lectures during the second week of the symposium.

    * Airline tickets must be issued by airlines based in the US (such as American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, etc.) We are not allowed to use NSF funds to reimburse tickets issued by Brazilian (or other nationality) airlines.
