The Brown Bag Teaching Seminar meets each Thursday, Noon to 1:00 in
LAEB 1254 to talk about issues connected with the teaching and learning
of mathematics and statistics. All are welcome to participate and
participants are invited to bring their
lunch to eat during the seminar. The Seminar is organized by
Professors J. J. Price, David Moore, and Carl Cowen and is part of
the Purdue Mathematics and Statistics Departments' VIGRE project funded
by the National Science Foundation.
Each week, a "facilitator" organizes the topic for the week. For local
speakers, at least, we expect the facilitator to arrange for background
material appropriate for the discussion, arrange for a presentation
at the beginning of the seminar, and lead the discussion during the
seminar. The organizers welcome suggestions for topics for discussion
in the seminar.
There are a variety of resources on the Web related to teaching and learning
of mathematics. One good starting point is the Mathematical Association
of America's page Teaching
& Learning
