Prof. Wolfgang Dahmen to present Distinguished Lecture Series talk

Wolfgang Dahmen is the SmartState Chair and Williams-Hedberg-Hedberg Chair in Mathematics at the University of South Carolina

A leading expert in approximation theory, numerical analysis, and partial differential equations, he has received many distinctions during his distinguished career, including: Invited Speaker at International Congress of Mathematics in 1994, the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize in 2002, and the Gauss Lectureship in 2011.

He served as the Chair of the Society for the Foundations of Computational Mathematics (2014-2017) and is the Editor-in-Chief of Constructive Approximation since 2003.

His talk, entitled How to Control Accuracy - the Merit of Residuals will take place on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 4:30 pm in LWSN 1142.  A reception in Lawson Commons will follow the talk.
