I never get tired of it

07-02-2021

The Exponent interviewed the Department of Mathematics very own Professor Joe Chen about his early feelings regarding math and his journey to Purdue University!

Exponent summer reporter, Richard Johnson, interviewed Joe Chen about his path to Purdue and his not so love of Math at the start of his life!

"It is this belief that math connects everything that has shaped Chen’s teaching style and made him famous within the Purdue math department and at the University as a whole."

Professor Chen strives to make his courses interesting for the students. This priority has earned Professor Chen the Distinguished Faculty for Research award this past April 2021. The award is given to those with a high standard of commitment to students!

It is also no wonder that on any given day there is a crowd of students in, and outside, his office to talk or get mentoring. The students placed a sign on his office door that stated "Joe Chen's Official Fan Club!" It is wonderful to see the great effect a Professor has on students!

Congratulations Joe Chen!!
