Credit Hours: 3.00. First order equations, second and n’th order linear equations, series solutions, solution by Laplace transform, systems of linear equations. It is preferable but not required to take MA 265 either first or concurrently. Not open to students with credit in MA 262, 272, 360, 361, or 366. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer.

Homework: The homework will be based on the Assignment Sheet and will have two components:
- Online homework on WebAssign
- Hand-graded homework (to be submitted in class)
The due dates will be indicated both on the Homework page, as well as on WebAssign.
Exams: There will be two midterm exams (75 min, in class or evening) and a comprehensive final exam (2 hrs, covering all material). The exact times and place will be specified due course.
Grading: Course grades will be determined from the Total Score, calculated as follows
Total Score (max 600 pts) = Homework (200 pts) + Midterm Exams (2 @ 100pts each) + Final Exam (200pts)
Assignment of the Grade: The scores will be uniformized across different sections by using the following procedure.
- The number of particular letter grades (A, B, …) in each section is based on the Final Exam score across all sections of the course by using a course–wide Final Exam curve.
- The letter grades within each section are then determined based on the Total Score.
Important Comments: Class attendance is expected. Reading the sections in the textbook ahead of time is strongly recommended. Check the course webpage often, for possible changes in schedule or other important updates.
Calculators: Calculators will not be allowed on exams or quizzes.
