Actuarial science program named a best value

08-03-2016

Our actuarial sciences program was listed at #2 in a list of Top Degree Programs by College Values Online.

The best value ranking is comprised of the 30 best value actuarial science programs from among the more than 70 schools listed as offering an actuary degree in the College Navigator database operated by the National Center for Education Statistics.

Points were awarded to programs based on tuition, return on investment, percentage of students receiving financial aid, and the total number of Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams passed by students in the program.  The lower the tuition and higher the return on investment, percentage of financial aid recipients, and number of SOA exams passed by students before graduation, the higher the ranking.

Actuary is one of the top jobs listed by Jobs Rated Almanac.  It is a growing field with an average starting annual salary of $50,000 for actuaries with one exam credential, with a mean annual salary in the profession of $93,680.  Top earners with experience and a greater number of exam credentials can earn over $180,000 a year.
