Prof. Linquan Ma receives 2020 Sloan Research Fellowship

The Department congratulates Prof. Linquan Ma who has received a 2020 Sloan Research Fellowship. This is a two-year, $75,000 fellowship awarded by the by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in recognition of distinguished performance and a unique potential to make substantial contributions to their field.

Prof. Ma joins 19 other early-career scholars in mathematics who were also awarded fellowships this year by a selection committee of distinguished scholars. Candidates are tenure track professors in the United States and Canada who have recently received their PhD in a qualifying field. Fellows are selected on the basis of their independent research accomplishments, creativity, and potential to become leaders in the scientific community through their research contributions.

This fellowship has been recognizing promising scholars in a variety of fields since 1955, and many fellows have gone on to receive other distinguished awards including 50 Nobel Prizes, 17 Fields Medals, and 69 National Medals of Science.
