Rolando de Santiago to join in August 2020

Rolando de Santiago will join the Department of Mathematics as a new tenure-track assistant professor in August 2020.
Professor de Santiago received his BS and MS in Mathematics in 2012 from Cal Poly Pomona under the mentorship of Professors John Rock and Robin Wilson. He completed his Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Iowa under the guidance of Professor Ionut Chifan.
Professor de Santiago was an RTG Assistant Adjunct Professor and a UC Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles under the supervision of Professor Sorin Popa. His research is in the classification of type II1 factors arising from groups by way of Popa's deformation/rigidity theory.
