Purdue Mathematics Assistant Professor Lvzhou Chen has received the Kamil Duszenko Award, an international honor recognizing outstanding contributions to mathematics.

Presented by the Wrocław Mathematicians Foundation, the award is granted for research that has significantly advanced mathematical knowledge and understanding. The award commemorates Kamil Duszenko, a promising young mathematician who died of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2014 at the age of 28.

Chen was recognized for his research contributions, including recent collaborative work with fellow Purdue Mathematics Associate Professor Yash Lodha solving the 50-year-old Wiegold problem in group theory. The Kamil Duszenko Award is regarded as a prestigious recognition of exceptional achievement by early-career mathematicians whose work is advancing the field in significant ways.

Please join us in congratulating Lvzhou on this outstanding international honor.
