Jie Shen awarded Chang Jiang Chair Professorship

Professor Jie Shen has been awarded a 2010 Chang Jiang Chair Professorship by the Ministry of Education of China. The award will support visits by Professor Shen to Xiamen University, where he will conduct collaborative research in numerical analysis and scientific computing.

The Chang Jiang Scholars Program was jointly established by China's Ministry of Education and the Li Ka-Shing Foundation in 1998 to attract, select, and create a group of world leaders for advanced research in all areas of higher education. The main objective is to further improve China's standard of education and intellectual competitiveness by rapidly developing Chinese research institutions through the engagement of Chang Jiang Scholars. This year, China has awarded a total of 100 Chang Jiang Chair Professorships in all fields.
