de Hoop's work featured in Science

Maarten de HoopProf. Maarten de Hoop was part of a team of scientists whose research was published in the May 27, 2011 issue of Science. They used new imaging techniques developed for oil and gas exploration to produce high-resolution images of seismic activity hundreds of kilometers below Earth's surface. Their study revealed a newfound, and unexpected, hotspot west of Hawaii.
