2012 Outstanding Mathematics Alumnus — Srikanth Iyengar
Srikanth Iyengar received his Ph.D. in mathematics in 1998 under the direction of Luchezar Avramov. After postdoc positions at University of Missouri-Columbia and University of Sheffield, U.K., he joined the faculty of University of Missouri-Columbia in 2001. In 2007, he moved to University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he is the Willa Cather Professor in the Department of Mathematics.
Prof. Iyengar has held visiting appointments in the U.S. India, Japan, and Germany. At Nebraska he has been recognized for his distinguished teaching and for contributions to graduate students. In 2007 he was the recipient of the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Prize awarded by the Humboldt Foundation. Iyengar has been an advisor to 9 Ph.D. students and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra. He is the co-author of two books on local cohomology and has authored or co-authored 52 research papers.
2012 Outstanding Actuarial Science Alumnus — Robert K. Beideman
Bob Beideman is a Retirement Practice Partner at the Southern Company in Atlanta. Utilizing his experience in design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of qualified, non-qualified and postretirement medical plans, Bob assists clients evaluate their retirement programs to ensure the total rewards offered are aligned with business and compliance objectives.
Bob has over 25 years of consulting experience. He works with many plan sponsors to develop and implement frozen plan solutions to manage costs and mitigate risk. In addition, he has worked with various organizations on retirement design, communication, postretirement medical plans and financial management issues. Throughout his career as a retirement consultant, Bob has served as national chairperson for new client transition/implementation, national chairperson for retirement training and national chairperson for recruiting.
Bob earned his B.S degree in Applied Statistics at Purdue University. He is an Enrolled Actuary, an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Bob currently serves as a co-chairperson for the Enrolled Actuary Examination Committee for EA 2A.
