AMS Sectional meeting

09-07-2021

Please see the latest update regarding the AMS Sectional meeting.

The deadline for special session proposals for the AMS Sectional meeting at Purdue University in March 2022 has been extended due to the extraordinary challenges many are facing at this time.

The new deadline is September 21, 2021. Proposals for special sessions for the Purdue meeting should be sent to me, Georgia Benkart <benkart@math.wisc.edu>, and any questions concerning the scientific program at the meeting can be directed to me also.

At this time the Purdue meeting is being planned as an in-person meeting. There are a number of factors that play a role in any decision to switch to a virtual meeting. Purdue University, West Lafayette, or Indiana may place limits on the number of attendees that can participate in an in-person meeting. The AMS also assesses the risk to its meetings department staff and to the attendees at the meeting.

The AMS will continue to monitor the situation, and ultimately it will decide if the meeting is in-person or virtual.

The response to the call for special session proposals for the Purdue meeting has been very strong, so the meeting will definitely take place either virtually or in-person.

The AMS Meetings Coordinator for the Purdue meeting is Heather Butler <hpb@ams.org>, and she can answer questions that may arise concerning the logistics of the meeting.

The abstract deadline for the meeting remains unchanged and is January 25. 2022. Your session schedule will be due January 28, 2022. More information, including a schedule form for you to fill out for your session will be forthcoming at a later date. Plan on having twenty talk slots, each 20 minutes long, two consecutive slots can be combined for a 45-minute walk. Any combination of 20-minute and 45-minute talks is fine.
