Options for a web presence
Faculty profile pages
The faculty profile pages are structured identically for everyone, and they contain a link to a personal web page, if the latter is set up. For example: Dr. Brown’s Page.
Send update requests to Sarah Wentland.
Personal web directories
Math department faculty and graduate students may set up a personal web page in addition to the structured profile page. Viewers can access the personal web page directly with a URL in this form: https://www.math.purdue.edu/~[your_username]. Here is an example: Donu Arapura's Home Page.
To set up and maintain your personal web page, put HTML files into the directory called “WWW” in your Math department home directory. This directory can also be accessed through Microsoft Networking (also known as “Samba”) at:
smb://smbhost.math.purdue.edu/WWW
These directories are set up as part of your Math department Linux account.
The personal web page area is meant for your own personal web page creation. Purdue Science IT can not support your personal HTML coding. If you want a more advanced website with support from our Web group and official Purdue branding, please see below.
Personal website
If you want a separate site, please send a request to Science IT. The College of Science uses a content management system called Cascade for the department and lab/research sites. Science IT will build the website to your specifications and train you to update it.
Per the Purdue branding guidelines, new websites created on the purdue.edu domain should have a Purdue look and feel. Sites on non-Purdue domains are not included in this requirement.
